I am new to making my own components and was wondering which is better for ear wires, sterling silver or fine silver? I was reading that fine silver tarnishes less than sterling is this correct?

What gauge wire is the best gauge of wire for earring wires ?

Thank you for your time.

Yes Fine Silver does not tarnish and does not cause allergies, but it is extremely soft. Because of that, you run the risk of it bending over time. The most commonly used gauge for earings is about 21 gauge (.75mm)
